Photo: Faye What ISO and WB settings did you use? The ISO was 3200, the white balance was set on AUTO. What action did you freeze? (Describe). I froze the action of ping pong balls being thrown at Faye. What was your distance, and point of view for the photo? The distance I took this photo from was only 1-2 yards. The point of view was straight on from a slightly lower angle. Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strenghthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, contrast...) The contrast of the black background really makes Faye stand out, this emphasizes the difference between positive and negative space. Faye was also positioned on the last third of the frame, which follows the rues of thirds.
Photo: Leaves What ISO and WB settings did you use? The ISO was 400, the white balance was set on AUTO. What action did you freeze? (Describe). I froze the action of leaves thrown. What was your distance, and point of view for the photo? The distance I took this photo from was very close, probably only a foot or twoaway. The point of view was straight but from below. Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strenghthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, contrast...) There is texture and strong colors in the leaves.
Painting with Light
Photo: Faye's Ghost Face Describe one of your photos from painting with light. In this photo Faye illuminated her phace white moving, because of the long shutterspeed her movement was captured. What shutter speed did you have the camera on? Six Seconds What light source did you use to create the painting? A small white flashlight How did you achieve the image/effect? Faye moved her face, which was lit up, and the slow shutterspeed captured her movement. What impact does the photo have? How would the viewer feel looking at your photo? The photo has a mysterious feel to it. The viewer would probably wonder what the picture was exactly.
Aperture
Color Correction
Shallow Teapot What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a shallow depth of field? f/5 What ISO and WB settings did you use? ISO: 800, WB: Fluorescent
Teapot Large Depth of Field What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a large depth of field? f/22 What ISO and WB settings did you use? ISO: 800, WB: Fluorescent
Which photo is better? Why? I personally like the shallow depth of field more. The point of view makes the photo more visually interesting. Why would you want to use a shallow depth of field? With a shallow depth of field it is easy to emphasize on a focal point, it also makes the composition more visually interesting. When/in what situation would a large depth of field be better? While shooting a large landscape it os better to use a large depth of field in order to keep everything in focus.
